Bullfrog Spas manufactures all of its hot tubs in Herriman, Utah (just outside Salt Lake City), operating out of a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. Founded in 1996 by David Ludlow, Bullfrog remains an independent, privately held American spa builder.
What Bullfrog Is Known For: JetPak Therapy System®
Above all else, Bullfrog Spas is known for its proprietary JetPak Therapy System®. Featured across their A Series, STIL, and M Series lines, JetPaks are removable, interchangeable seat backrests equipped with distinct jet combinations. Instead of jetting being permanently fixed into the acrylic shell during factory manufacturing, bathers can swap different JetPak modules into different seats around the tub based on personal hydrotherapy preferences.
Insulation Standard: Full Closed-Cell Foam
Beneath the plumbing cabinet, Bullfrog builds their spa cavities using 100% closed-cell polyurethane full foam insulation paired with an injection-molded ABS composite frame (EnduraFrame™) containing zero structural wood.
Bullfrog utilizes hard closed-cell foam to lock heat into the shell cavity and add rigid support to their frame structure. However, service technicians often note a significant drawback with closed-cell insulation compared to flexible open-cell Icynene foam: because closed-cell foam cures hard as a rock, digging through it to locate or repair an internal plumbing fitting outside of warranty can be an extremely difficult, labor-intensive job.

While fewer flexible vinyl hoses run behind the outer acrylic shell wall, the plumbing isn't gone—it's simply relocated into snapping manifold boxes behind your back. Water still travels through main distribution pipes into snap-fit manifold housings, gasket seals, and pressure fittings.
- Loss of Deep-Tissue Hydrotherapy Pressure: Because water must pass through a snap-in manifold distribution box before hitting the JetPak faceplate, water pressure is dispersed across multiple secondary connections. Techs and buyers frequently note that JetPaks lack the raw, deep-tissue punch provided by traditionally plumbed, direct-pushed hydrotherapy seats found in conventional premium spas.
- Seat Ergonomics & Reduced Legroom: JetPaks add 2 to 3 inches of rigid plastic thickness behind each seat. This pushes the bather forward, resulting in noticeably more upright, boxy seating angles and shallower footwell legroom compared to contoured acrylic shells with molded jet recesses.
